I was very disappointed because my appointment was for an x-ray and the x-ray machine was broken and has been for some time. No one bother to let me know that it was broken so the appointment was a waste of time

I was referred to "AME" Medical Group Urgent Care by my health insurance provider member services representative, since my primary care physician wasn't able to set an office visit for me until sometime in Jan. 2025 (more than a month long wait). I was able to do a same day walk-in appointment at "AME" within an hour of calling their medical office to check their office hours. Aleta had me do a quick self check-in via solvhealth app. Dr. Khanlou was great! He asked a few questions regarding my health issue and made a diagnosis and ordered the medications I needed immediately and arranged for me to pick up the Rx's at my preferred neighborhood pharmacy. I highly recommend Dr. Khanlou. He is very nice and provides the best patient care!

Overview of STD Testing in Camarillo

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially if they have multiple partners or do not consistently use protection. It's particularly important for those who have had unprotected sex, shared needles for drug use, or have symptoms of an STD. Even those who practice safe sex should get tested regularly, as some STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning they show no symptoms. According to the CDC, certain groups, such as young people aged 15-24 and men who have sex with men, are at a higher risk and should get tested more frequently.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, many STDs do not show symptoms, so you may not know you have one unless you get tested. Secondly, untreated STDs can lead to serious health complications, including infertility, cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Lastly, knowing your STD status can help protect your sexual partners from getting infected.

Std testing options in Camarillo, CA:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are a convenient option for STD testing in Camarillo. These facilities often offer same-day appointments, which can be booked through Solv’s website and mobile app. One highly-rated option is the Ventura Urgent Care Center, located at 5725 Ralston St, Ventura, CA 93003.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also provide STD testing. This can be a good option if you have a long-standing relationship with your provider. However, appointments may not be available on the same day.

Free STD testing and community health centers

There are also free STD testing options available in Camarillo. Community health centers often offer these services, although wait times can be longer than in urgent care centers.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing is another option. This involves ordering a test online, collecting a sample at home, and then sending it back to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Camarillo

Camarillo, located in Ventura County, has seen a steady increase in STD rates over the past few years, mirroring the national trend. According to the CDC, the most common STDs in this area are chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. The rates of these infections are lower than in nearby Los Angeles County, but higher than in San Diego and Fresno counties.

Risk factors related to STDs in Camarillo

Several risk factors can contribute to the prevalence of STDs in Camarillo. These include a lack of consistent condom use, multiple sexual partners, and a lack of regular testing. Additionally, certain demographics, such as young people and men who have sex with men, are at a higher risk. Public health initiatives aim to address these risk factors through education and providing access to testing and treatment services.
