Dose of amoxicillin was wrong.  Max dose for big kid and adult is 500mg twice daily for strep throat.  Doc gave 7ml bid for 400mg/5ml. That would have been over.  We are a medical family so we’re able to check that.  We are now giving her 6.25 mg twice a day two equal 500 mg twice a day with liquid amoxicillin because her weight pushed her into the adult dosing schedule.  As a medical provider, I know sometimes calculations can go awry. Consider re-checking. Our pharmacist also did not catch that.  We know that happens sometimes. However,  If your EMR does not catch that, especially consider re-checking each time.  Appreciate you being open on Labor Day.

We recently visited this urgent care for kids, and while the staff was kind and patient, the cleanliness of the facility was very concerning. The walls looked like they had mold growing on them, and the entire place just felt dirty and poorly maintained. The waiting area didn’t have any blinds, so we were sitting there getting baked by the sun the whole time, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. I really hope management addresses these issues soon because the people working there were great, but the condition of the building is absolutely unacceptable—especially for a place meant to care for children.

Had a 3-4 day history of cough and head congestion. I have a colonoscopy in 1 week so really wanted to avoid having to reschedule as I already had to wait 6 months after scheduling due to Gastros busy schedule. I got the appt scheduled quick, waited a little over 30 min to be roomed and the PA was prompt, thorough, and had a great bedside manner. Thanks so much for seeing me.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Anyone who is at risk for hepatitis should consider getting tested. This includes individuals who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with hepatitis, those who have traveled to areas with high rates of hepatitis, healthcare workers, and individuals who have shared needles or other drug paraphernalia. Additionally, people who have engaged in unprotected sex, especially with multiple partners, should also consider getting tested. According to the CDC, testing is also recommended for all pregnant women due to the potential for mother-to-child transmission.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial as it can lead to serious health complications if left undiagnosed and untreated. These complications can include liver damage, liver cancer, and even death. Moreover, individuals with hepatitis can unknowingly spread the virus to others. By getting tested, you can take steps to protect your health and prevent transmission to others.

Hepatitis testing options in Richardson, TX:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

There are several urgent care and walk-in clinics in Richardson, TX that offer hepatitis testing. One highly rated location is Splendid Cedar Healthcare, located at 1101 E Arapaho Rd, Richardson, TX 75081. Urgent care centers are a convenient option for same-day and next-day appointments, which can be booked through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another good option for hepatitis testing. They can provide a comprehensive health check-up and can refer you to a specialist if necessary. If you already have a primary care provider, you can ask them about hepatitis testing during your next appointment.

Free STD testing and community health centers

There are also community health centers in Richardson that offer free or low-cost STD testing. These centers are a great resource for individuals who may not have insurance or who are looking for affordable testing options.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits for hepatitis are also available. These kits allow you to collect a sample at home and send it to a lab for testing. This can be a convenient option for those who prefer to test in the privacy of their own home.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Richardson

While specific data for Richardson, TX is not readily available, Dallas County, where Richardson is located, has seen a steady increase in hepatitis cases over the past few years, according to the CDC. This mirrors the national trend, which has also seen an increase in hepatitis cases. It's important to note that these numbers may be underreported, as many people with hepatitis do not know they are infected.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Richardson

The risk factors for hepatitis in Richardson are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include engaging in unprotected sex, sharing needles or other drug paraphernalia, and having close contact with someone who has hepatitis. Other risk factors include traveling to areas with high rates of hepatitis and being a healthcare worker.

Other STDs in Richardson

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also present in Richardson. Like hepatitis, these STDs can lead to serious health complications if left untreated. Therefore, regular testing is recommended for anyone who is at risk.
