Had a 3-4 day history of cough and head congestion. I have a colonoscopy in 1 week so really wanted to avoid having to reschedule as I already had to wait 6 months after scheduling due to Gastros busy schedule. I got the appt scheduled quick, waited a little over 30 min to be roomed and the PA was prompt, thorough, and had a great bedside manner. Thanks so much for seeing me.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

According to the CDC, anyone who has been exposed to blood or body fluids of an infected person, shared needles or syringes, or had unprotected sex with an infected person should get tested for hepatitis. Additionally, those who were born to a hepatitis-infected mother, traveled to countries with high rates of hepatitis, or are men who have sex with men should also consider getting tested.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial as it can lead to serious health problems including liver disease, cirrhosis, and liver cancer if left untreated. Early detection can help prevent these complications and enable you to start treatment early. Moreover, knowing your hepatitis status can help prevent spreading the virus to others.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Grapevine

While specific data for Grapevine is not readily available, Dallas County, where Grapevine is located, has seen a steady increase in hepatitis cases over the years, mirroring national trends. According to the CDC, this increase could be attributed to the opioid crisis, which has led to an increase in shared needle use.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Grapevine

Risk factors for hepatitis in Grapevine are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, sharing needles, and exposure to infected blood or body fluids. Traveling to countries with high hepatitis prevalence can also increase the risk.

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also prevalent in Grapevine and nearby cities like Southlake, Coppell, Flower Mound, Colleyville, and Euless. Regular testing is recommended to detect these infections early and start treatment promptly.
