There was only one person on staff in the whole place. She was great but she shouldn’t have had to do everything by herself. I was there for two hours. Feels pointless to have all those available time slots for appointments on the website if they’re not actually available. I’d rather have fewer options to choose when I schedule if I could actually be seen during my appointment time. The doctor was on an iPad so she couldn’t do much.

Scheduled online before driving there.  I was taken in as soon as I arrived and the provider saw me in minutes.  15 minutes visit.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

According to the CDC, anyone who has been exposed to blood or body fluids of an infected person, has had unprotected sex, has shared needles, or has lived in a household with a person with hepatitis should get tested. Additionally, people born between 1945 and 1965, commonly known as baby boomers, are five times more likely to have hepatitis C. Therefore, it is recommended that people in this age group get tested for hepatitis C, even if they don't have any symptoms or known exposure.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, hepatitis often shows no symptoms until the disease has progressed, which can lead to severe liver damage. Early detection can prevent these complications. Secondly, if you know you have hepatitis, you can take steps to prevent spreading it to others. Lastly, treatment is available for all types of hepatitis, and the sooner you start treatment, the more effective it is.

Hepatitis testing options in Peekskill, NY:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care centers and walk-in clinics offer convenient, same-day hepatitis testing. One highly-rated nearby location is PhysicianOne Urgent Care in Cortlandt, NY. You can book same-day and next-day testing appointments through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also test for hepatitis. If you do not have a primary care provider, there are 27 locations in and around Peekskill where you can get tested.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often offer free or low-cost hepatitis testing. While these centers may not offer the same convenience as urgent care centers, they provide an essential service for those who cannot afford to pay for testing.

At-home testing

At-home hepatitis testing is another option. These tests can be ordered online and completed in the privacy of your own home. The results are usually available within a few days.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Peekskill

While specific data for Peekskill is not readily available, Westchester County, where Peekskill is located, has seen a steady increase in hepatitis cases in recent years, mirroring national trends. This increase may be due to a variety of factors, including increased testing and awareness, as well as the opioid crisis, which has led to an increase in needle sharing.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Peekskill

Risk factors for hepatitis in Peekskill are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, sharing needles, and exposure to blood or body fluids of an infected person. Additionally, socioeconomic factors such as poverty and lack of access to healthcare can increase the risk of hepatitis.

Other STDs in Peekskill

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also a concern in Peekskill. As with hepatitis, these diseases often show no symptoms until they have progressed, making regular testing important.
