Was able to make a fast easy appointment for next day online. But wait time in clinic was very long even though I did have an appointment. I think AME should do reminder messages of appointments or when patient needs testing as well.

The PA was kind and non alarming!ย  I didnโ€™t feel that way with the previous visit 2 days before! She explained things carefully, so I understood what I was dealing with and prescribed the correct medication! The previous PA told me I would get a call with the results of my urine ย test, but I never got that call and my antibiotics needed to be changed. I developed a fever and came in again! Not sure why I never got that call???

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Anyone can be at risk for hepatitis, a disease that inflames the liver. However, certain groups are more susceptible, including those who have been in close contact with someone infected with hepatitis, individuals who have traveled to regions with high hepatitis rates, people who inject drugs, and those with multiple sexual partners. The CDC also recommends testing for anyone born between 1945 and 1965, as this group has a higher prevalence of hepatitis C.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial to prevent the disease from progressing and causing severe damage to your liver. Early detection allows for prompt treatment, which can significantly reduce the risk of liver disease and cancer. Furthermore, knowing your hepatitis status can help prevent you from unknowingly transmitting the virus to others.

At-home testing

Prevalence of hepatitis in Lakewood

Lakewood, located in Los Angeles County, has seen a steady number of hepatitis cases over the years. However, it's important to note that rates can vary between cities within the same county.

Risk factors for hepatitis in Lakewood are similar to those in other cities. These include drug use, unprotected sex, travel to high-risk areas, and close contact with an infected person. Additionally, socioeconomic factors such as access to healthcare and education can also influence hepatitis rates.

Other STDs in Lakewood

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also present in Lakewood. The rates of these STDs can fluctuate over time and can be influenced by similar risk factors as hepatitis. Regular testing for all STDs/STIs is recommended for those at risk.
